After a long battle with cancer, Bill Neddow, husband, father, grandfather, woodturner and sculptor, passed away surrounded by family. Following a career with the World Bank and the Canadian Federal Government in both the departments of Finance and CIDA, Bill put his hand to the lathe 14 years ago and in a very short time became a world renowned woodturner. A number of his turnings and sculptures have been displayed in many galleries and exhibitions. His ability to clearly see the heart of a problem made him a great teacher, a demonstrator in high demand and an author on many articles of woodturning which have and will continue to be studied by woodturners in many countries. Placing all that aside, Bill was a kind and gentle man who would take the time to help anyone who wanted to learn about the world of woodturning. A confessed “tool-junkie” Bill would try anything to create a masterpiece with each piece of wood that he attached to his lathe. Our woodturning community here in Ottawa will miss his welcoming smile and his direction. A good man has left the room.
